Mini ROADSTER o Mini SPY del 2007?

“La MINI Roadster Concept è stata presentata al Salone di Francoforte lo scorso settembre, riscuotendo apprezzamenti per il suo stile.
Ma forse l’idea della bella scoperta a due posti secchi ha avuto una delle sue prime scintille in Italia e precisamente a Bologna.
Infatti nel marzo del 2007 alla sede di MINI Italia, Lamberto Angelini, di Angelini Design – a Bologna dal 1980 – che collabora con aziende nazionali e internazionali a progetti di veicoli e prodotti industriali, mostrò un paio di proposte stilistiche chiamate MINI Spy.
Non se ne fece niente, ma il successivo settembre Angelini e Gert Hildebrand, capo del design MINI, si incontrarono a Francoforte, in occasione della presentazione della Mini Clubman.
I due si conoscevano dal 1979, quando erano designer del centro stile Volkswagen a Wolfsburg e il bolognese ripropose direttamente i suo lavori lasciando una brochure con alcuni disegni.
E dopo due anni di silenzio, ecco la Roadster, molto simile alla Spy di Angelini, che evidentemente aveva attirato l’attenzione…”
The Mini Roadster Concept was unveiled at the Frankfurt IAA in September 2009, and everybody looked at its style. However, the idea of a two-seater Mini-based spider may have actually sparked much earlier in Bologna – Italy.
In March 2007 at MINI Italia headquarters in Milano, Lamberto Angelini - chief designer at Angelini Design, founded in 1980 in Bologna and with large experience in automotive and industrial design – showed some style proposals of a spider version of the iconic car, called MINI Spy.
Nothing was done at that time but there have been a second chance.
In September 2007 Angelini met Gert Hildebrand – Head of Mini Design – at the Frankfurt IAA for the launch of the Mini Clubman. They already knew each other, actually since 1979, when they worked together at the Volkswagen Design Center in Wolfsburg.
Mr. Angelini showed his MINI Spy directly to Mr. Hildebrand, leaving him a brochure with detailed drawings of his project.
Then, after two years of silence, Mini presented the Roadster Concept, which looks indeed very similar to the MINI Spy by Angelini.
The 2007 visit of Mr. Angelini had apparently attracted the attention… much more than it seemed.
